Classics: Temperley for MAC

Ok, so this is MY classic!
I was a huge MAC addict ( I'm actually in rehab for this addiction) but what I loved about the brand was the celeb collabos and their face palettes that featured coordinating shades for lips, eyes and cheeks. In 2005 my dreams came true and MAC teamed up with Charlotte Tillbury and made the MAC for Temperly palette that summer. It features a vivid pink/ fuschia cream color base ( vivacious), Mocha blush, Olive eyeshadow, teal eyeshadow (Temperley),lavender eyeshadow,light blue eyeshadow, a neutral pink gloss and a plum lipstick (Plumful).
I kid you not- this palette works for everyone, plus the case is just lovely.

Classics: Aveda Brilliant

I was first introduced to brilliant by my cousin who has relaxed thin medium-length hair. I wondered why her hair was so shiny- and she told me that this product took the cake.

Fast forward 10 years. I still like it but it was definately a first of its kind. My cousin being from the eastcoast was more subject to humidity than I ( we get more Santa Ana in Daygo) but the condition and shine was a plus. Your hair shines like glass, stops frizz and smells great.. you can't go wrong, especially when spring showers and summer heat and humidity hits while at the beach

Classics: Cover Girl Professional Mascara

this one is an old school fave. In middle school/ Jr. High School we got this mascara for free and I was loving it. It was perfect for the no make-up make- up look especially since you really didnt want to look like you were done up.. but you needed to enhance something on your face.

back then ( well atleast for me) Niki Taylor was the face in the ads for this mascara. Aww the memories..

I think you can still get this mascara at the drugstore. I'm telling you- its the best one to use when starting out in makeup.

Classics: Duwop Lip Venom

The first lip plumper of its time!
In 2000, Duwop created something revolutionary. A lipgloss that enhances your natural lipcolor and "the result is shiny bee-stung lips' and it does what it says it will. I love the cinnamon smell, but be careful when kissing- they might encounter a tingly surprise!

Easy Breezy Beautiful.. what a catchphrase.
When I was younger I used to collect all of the CG advertisements. Back then Helena Christiansen, Tyra Banks, Katherine Heigl ( pre "Greys") and Niki Taylor repped the Brand and their 6 or 7 different formulas of powders and foundations. With Clean Make-up and the Powder foundation combo. In the early 90's I used to think that CG was at the top of their game.
Now when I look at fashion mags, I don't see a lot of their Spring/Fall Campaigns like I used to. I have to drop into Longs and see them. I guess not all stores carry the same merch and it isn't on their websites. Long gone are the Supers that repped the brand now there are Star/ Celeb/ Actresses and ANTM winners who carry the torch. Keri Russell, Joy Bryant, Molly Sims and Queen Latifah have made the brand proud lately.

Classics: Chanel Vamp Lipstick

Back in '94 when we were attempting to remove ourselves from Flannel and the re-emergence of Jellies, there were the burgandy lipsticks.
Chanel Vamp is/ was the creme de la creme of them all.
It looks so sophisticated and its timeless, my only wish is that the lipstick were as dark as the nail polish.
Oh mid-90's how I miss thee.. but you can still find Vamp anywhere that sells Chanel.
I can't promise you will find those jellies..

Classics: Smith's Rosebud Salve

It's a serious life saver. I put this on in the morning immediately after I jump in the car. It lasts the whole day... nothing does that for my skin. Forget alligator skin.. it just doesn't compare.

Smith's Rosebud Salve comes in 3 formulas- Original (blue), Strawberry lipbalm ( gold) and the Minted Rose lipbalm ( white).

The Minted Rose is exclusive to Sephora and works wonders- it smooths right before you put on your lipstick or lipgloss.

You can find these at Sephora, Bath and Body works, Urban Outfitters and they go for $5-7 bucks a pop.. but they last for about 3 months.

Classics: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

It's a cult classic! This pink and green has been around since the 70's and is #1 for everyone from Allure to Cosmo. The formula has bent a bit- now they have shades like clear ( for brows and lashes) and blackest black ( its pretty impressive), along with their waterproof and curved wand design.

Classics: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Classic #2 goes to Queen Helene’s Mint Julep masque. I like to put this on before jumping in the shower and washing it off right after. I would recommend it for normal to oily skin because it takes all the oil and dirt out. It makes my skin so fresh and so clean! Plus: its under $4 , you can find it at any drugstore and a little bit goes a long way.

Classics: Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick

So I will attempt ( emphasis on attempt) to post on Monday's about the Beauty Classics. You may ask,"What do you mean by 'Classics'"? My definition is simple. A classic is something that is a staple, something with longevity and has the same impact on day one until.. whenever to make you look or feel good. Another element is nostalgia too.
My first classic goes wayyy back to when I was in Jr high school. my first official "lipstick" but its almost lipstick. The payoff is great and the contents lasts a long time.. so many memories are locked with Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Wonderful Clinique gift with purchase( where I could use all of it), hanging out with Danielle and Anna, having carne asada fries, being in broadcasting class watching MTV.. memories
