Just Beachy, just breezy

Just Beachin
Hey look its Tony Sirico aka Paulie Walnuts!

July Beach pics- easy breezy

This past weekend, I took the day to play in Rockaway with friends Anna and Leizel. While cruising on the boardwalk, we run into Paulie Walnuts! I've never watched the Sopranos but Anna is/was a huge fan and we took photos, such a nice guy.
So as you may or may not heard about the weather on the eastern seaboard, its hot, muggy, blah, sauna-rific, what ever clever adjective- just insert it here. While the weather wasn't that great for the face it was rather terrific for my hair. For my beach pics, I kept it minimal- just cover with sunscreen and keep lips moisturized. With that being said, here is what was in the black satin bag:

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70: Can't go wrong with a light sunscreen.

L'Oreal Color Caresse by Color Riche in #180 Silky Java: This is my second color shade in this like and I hope that L'Oreal continues to keep these. The formula is light and smooth, though I don't care for the "fruity" scent, the color wear goes a long way.

MAC Cream Color Blush in Virgin Isle: This CCB is my perinnial favorite for the summer, its great for cheeks and over some clear gloss for lips. Unfortunately its no longer on MAC's perma-roster anymore but you can luck out at some outlet stores or Ebay.

Maybelline Babylips in Quenched: I love, love this balm, it does the job- soft lips. I even like the packaging but I absolutely cannot stand the name, Baby Lips. Really? I'm not 12.. but I bought it anyway. haha.

What are your beach pics?

Daisha gets Beachy with BeautiControl

Daisha and Anaya

While on vacationing back home in southern California, I couldn't help but notice my sister-in-law Daisha's gorgeous makeup!

Daisha has been a die hard Beauty Control fan for about 8 months and so much so, she is also a consultant for the brand.
After a day at the beach, she filled me in on her favorite products that give her that beachy glow!
For eyes she uses BeautiControl's Intense Mineral Shadows in Red Carpet ready with Mirage Highlighter. To sculpt her cheeks she uses the Secret Agent Tricolor Bronzer with MAC's Peach Twist and for her lips she uses BC's Plum lip liner with matching Plum lipgloss.

If you are interested in achieving Daisha's look, you can email her here.

Channeling mod with the Black and white aesthetic with futuristic pop sounds. She’s coached from the love below and beamed to us from the distant planet of Metropolis.
Her style- Simple, effortless and timeless just like her beauty. Attending her live shows are worth having someone breathe down the back of your neck ( Music Hall of Williamsburgh was completely sold out and was back-to-back bodies) extra added bonus, she paints onstage!

Sand and Sun-screen

It's still summer can you believe it!
But the facade of the beach is kinda indifferent, let me elaborate: Sun- good, sand- free pedicure, Water- warmish, Humidity- no, stickiness- please no!
the fantasy turns reality into a mess especially when you are "glistening" with sweat. I solved the stickiness problem with Bobby Brown's Beach Body spray- its light, fragrant and has SPF 15. It knocks out your regular SPF and covers the "stickiness" factor of the beach. Now how to get rid of the humidified hair in 90+ degree weather...

Show them toes

With Warm weather comes great shoes and you need some nice feet to match. But what is the au current nail color to wear? We weren't as depressed as we were this fall/winter with the Chanel Black Satin craze but we aren't ready to bust out the MAC YumYam yellow nail color either. So right now I'm rolling with Essie's Mademoiselle- nude bubble color and Chanel Boa nail color- Bright Pink.
Before I do the nails.. I have to do something about my feet,Sally Hensen's feet scrubs are great and under $5. Foot soak- I like to use Aveda's Body salts as soak and for all the maintenance I bought this really cool hand and foot kit from Bath and Body works for $10. Now you can find some great all-in-one kits in BBW.
Check it out. www.bathandbodyworks.com

Electric Boogaloo

Have you seen make-up colors so shocking in the tube or package but complement your skin tone? Isn’t it great!
A few years back I was browsing the MAC store in Fashion for something new when a MA there suggested that I try their Orange Eyeshadow as a blush…come again?
She also mentioned that Erykah Badu loves to wear the shadow as a blush too. I was sold. I let her try it on me and to my surprise ( not to hers) it looked great on my ( NW 45 MAC) skintone. It looked like a natural flush. I just use it on the apples of my cheeks and to have a tone on tone look, sweep some bronzer over the top of it ( and also use it to contour). I’m really happy the MA taught me a technique and not to be afraid of color instead of just trying to sell me a product. I appreciate that. Other colors that are bright but nice: try NARS Exhibit A blush.
Another bright but nice is MAC’s Squirt lipglass. In an issue of Lucky Magazine back in 2002 it was featured as a favorite of an up and coming designer’s favorite lipgloss. She mentioned that she loved the color because it was lime green in the tube but when on it was “peachy’. I figure it looked unique- I should try it. Needless to say I still love Squirt but unfortunately it is discontinued by MAC. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel! MAC is releasing Tenderstones potted lipgloss in May and they will have a shade called Shush! that is described as a lime-green. For now I find that a great way to use Squirt is layering it over my Victoria’s Secret lipstick in Melt. It’s a beautiful wearable peach shade.
Thanks to my friends at Specktra I hear that in June MAC will have a collection that is basically Primary and Secondary colors- which means there are bright blues, yellows and greens. This summer is going to be so bright, its going to be an electric boogaloo.

Too cute: Lorac Maui Wowie

I'm so ready for Spring- I see all these new palettes and kits along with bright colors and it makes me want to go to the beach and lay on my bamboo mat..ah.

I saw this new palette from Lorac on the Sephora site and it looks so cute! It give me some hope when things are... beachy.
