A is for Abricot

or Apricot if you will.
As seen on Angelina Jolie in Cannes and the beautiful body con dress of Alexander Wang.
This summer embrace the sherbet tone of Apricot! wether it be in your clothing or in your makeup.
I love NARS' Mustique Multiple for an apricot glow that reminds me of a beautiful sunset.

Summer 2009: A to Z

Gathering the contents of the project has been fun and challenging. It has also tested my realm of non-beauty related and more inspirational uses and tips to share for gearing up for the summer.
I encourage you to look in your own makeup stash ( granted its not wayyy out of date) mix match and make your own colors ( check out my DIY lipgloss post) also, don't get discouraged by the high price tags of designer stuffs- I'll include links to DIY's where you can make it your own.
So here we go!

Embracing the dark lip year around

In Spring '09 fashion week, Obedient Sons & Daughters embraced the dark lip for spring trend.
Was this a subconscious move regarding our economic conditions or a more romantic and mysterious move?
Anyway, the look is simple, classic and the lipstick - NARS Timbuktu has return from hiatus and is available on Narscosmetics.com as a exclusive!
Timbuktu (Rich Bordeaux)
I 'll have an update next week with pics and swatches.

Loving the LOFT!

I was recently gifted a new Ann Taylor LOFT beautiful blue-cerulean bobble necklace that I just had to share. Excitement hit me because it didn't dawn on me that I haven't covered jewelry yet on this blog.
Well, welcome new jewelry post!
See as I'm evolving ( albeit, slowly) out of my t-shirt and jeans, laid back SoCal nature to something more statement oriented, I though that this piece was a great way to start!
It worked well last saturday when I shot the necklace against my black tank and I can't wait to mix it with more pieces.

You can get this necklace as part of Ann Taylor LOFT's summer accessory collection currently available in stores.

Givenchy at Loehmann's!

"Say what?" was my initial reaction but yes its true.
I walked into the Loehmann's in Chelsea and casual browsed the shoe section ( something I rarely do, I usually bolt to the Back Room to check out the deals there).
And low and behold, I was instantly smitten with these beauties!
Givenchy studded heels in a beautiful soft grey leather.
But, I was not finding my size, so since I was a Gold Card member, I inquired about another store having my size ( no they didn't since they are debuting in NYC and will  be in select stores in the coming months). BUT! they had my size on the floor- Heaven.
The original price for these babies$770- but with the Loehmann's price, plus 10% off for being a Gold Card insider member, I got these for 66% off!!

Spring Music, Makeup and Mayhem with Whateverishly's Stella

L: Who/ What is your Spring inspiration? ( whether it be a movie, music, article of clothing
S: Klimt's portrait of Mada Primavesi, Egon Schiele's "Female Act" where you can sort of see the womans green knee socks,
2. Chet Baker and my best friend Abby!

L:  What are you leaving in your makeup bag that can transend from winter to spring?
S: Most of the makeup i regularly use is just for accents (lip gloss, mascara, cream blush) but for spring I like to ease up on eye makeup so ill likely be using that a bit less.

L: 3 songs that make your flora get down with your fauna?
S: I am loving Garotas Suecas right now, a lot, and have also been rediscovering a lot of hip hop from the classic years. At this point Pete Rock "The Boss" is the song of the season. it's simple and bright and feels like chilling with friends on a spring evening.

L: Head bands or Bangles?
S: I like headbands but I'm switching to hair ribbons for spring! I am also definitely excited to get a few big bangles going on my wrists!

L: Bright colors or tribal prints?
S: Bright colors are good but being pale and pink-ish they can wash me out. I usually don't love for tribal prints but i cannot stop thinking about Suno which uses the most beautiful kangas ever in wonderful cuts. I need one.

L: What advice would you give a guy for Spring cleaning ( ie. clean shaven face, grizzly look, moustache.. etc)S: I like the cute beard all year long.

L: 5 Things you can't live without right now!
S: 5 Things I Cannot Live Without:
1. pandora.com/refinery29.com/designspongeonline.com
2. Soy latte's from Gorilla Coffee on my corner
3. scarves
4. Diorshow Mascara
S: A(nother) new dress

Check both Stella and Coco out on Broke Ass Stuart's blog where they cover style and dating in the city, respectively.

What's your inspiration?

Its Spring, the weather is fickle and projects are among us.
What's your inspiration? photography, painting, music? Recently I put together an inspiration board full of colors, people events and textures that inspire me. Included is a picture of my mom, Grace Jones, Noemie Lenoir, an Irving Penn photo.. now what moves you?
