Balenciaga Fall '07:Lego Shoe

The collection as a whole is fantastic. The make-up look had nothing to it. But, I covet the Lego Shoe. I have to have these shoes!
Normally I'm not psyched about any particular accessory- I don't even change my purse according to season, I wear it out!

But these shoes are magic to my eyes, and will be magic on my size 10's ( yes I have big feet.. But its expected when you are 5'10.. so I am told)

If I can't find these shoes.. Lego's will do me justice, better yet I'll just bring some pics into Toys R' us and see what they have.

Fall 07 look Viktor & Rolf

The fall 07 forecast looks about the same as it did last year.. lots of dark blues, purples and greys. Break out the Black Satin again!

I really like this look by Viktor & Rolf. Flushy Cheeks, Flushy lips and gold eyeshadow.. nice and simple. Nothing to out shadow the fact that the models were strung to rigs. Ouch.
Nice and healthy make-up alternative to the mundane super cyborg look that I'm starting to see for the summer. I'm not partial to silvers and hyper reflective shadows and hi-lighters.. why? because I get oily. and When oil mixes with things that are supposed to make you "glow" you look like a hyper-reactor.

Anywho. where was I .. oh Nice and healthy makeup alternative. Yes, definately something to look forward to- hey it even makes the models look lively!

New VS Makeup Alert!

Ever since Victoria's Secret decided to re-vamp its make-up line- I love it.
The foundation matches my skin tone, the powder doesnt leave me looking dry or ghostly and the lipgloss last long and comes in really great colors.
I have to give the product and marketing team there a lot of credit for understanding the need of women who love makeup!

So I hear the new collection ( add- ons) will debut in March ( hopefully later on this week) and I'm psyched. New glosses, shadows and bronzer.

My Fave Oscar look

My favorite Oscar look fo the night was Forrest Whitaker's wife Keisha's make-up.

Lovely! The lavender shadow and pink gloss. Reminds me of the Spring Bobbi Brown Collection.

Congrats to all the winners!

Here comes the rain again

Yup, its raining in good ol' SD. But its not going to stop me from attempting to look good ( attempting.. ha)
So that means I'm going to have to fight the Frizz that comes with the rain.
How do I tame? I use the Super Skinny Serum from Paul Mitchell after I condition and before I blowdry. Super-shiny and no frizz.
For extra conditioning I spray on Oscar Blandi protein mist, it does the job and smells good in the process.

On another note: Paris Fashion week starts on Sunday!
Next week will be fun.

Happy Friday!

Beauté du Jour: Pat Cleveland

An American Classic!

When ever I see her, it reminds me of the "Cherche la femme" song.
Pat Cleveland was wildly popular in Europe for her theatrics that she brought to the runway. Stateside she was popular in print.

In the 70's she was a ground breaking African American model and the first cover girl For Essence magazine.
She still models today- last year she was featured in an Essence photo shoot with Stephen Burrows.
Her daughter is tearing up the runway as well.

Proenza Schouler update

I have decided the exclusive Lancome- Proenza pink lipstick is not for me.
It looks nice.. definately something I can sell on Ebay . But if the shade is not right for me ( which it isn't).. why bother?
I would love to make a Lacroix Lavender or something. A lavender tinged purple that's kinda 80's day-glo... kinda like the MAC Role play lipstick.. what do you think?
It would be the alter of Proenza pink...

Classics: Smith's Rosebud Salve

It's a serious life saver. I put this on in the morning immediately after I jump in the car. It lasts the whole day... nothing does that for my skin. Forget alligator skin.. it just doesn't compare.

Smith's Rosebud Salve comes in 3 formulas- Original (blue), Strawberry lipbalm ( gold) and the Minted Rose lipbalm ( white).

The Minted Rose is exclusive to Sephora and works wonders- it smooths right before you put on your lipstick or lipgloss.

You can find these at Sephora, Bath and Body works, Urban Outfitters and they go for $5-7 bucks a pop.. but they last for about 3 months.

Oh so nude!

I'm in love all over again!
I found the perfect nude for my lips! Its Dior's new ultra shine lipstick nude collection. I recently purchased the lipstick in shade #520. Its great, I just apply dirctly from the tube.. Have you had to do that with any of your other lippies... for me, I think not. Nudes were, liner, maybe some lipglass and then the stick- and the pigment wasn't all that great.

I know, I know.. I brag alot about Dior products. But they are damn good!
Back when I first saw the lipglosses that they had- at first thought they seem too glittery in the tube but surprisingly wearable on my hand ( I test all lippies on my hand first before purchase).

I guess the make-up collections they have pumped out for the past few months are getting good!

Spring Makeup Collection: Becca

Becca's new Spring collection is all about the nude. I don't really care for the promo pic, but the colors I have seen thus far are nice. I'm all for nude, not for sickly.

I like the new lip/blush creme, any product you can put on and go - I'm all for it. I still struggle with what make-up brush goes with what? huh?

This pink, brown, peach, flesh color palettes for this season is really nice..
with some mascara for the day or smokey eyes for the night.

Thank you Ebay!

Aha! Finally I got something good. I love collecting Lacroix stuff and there are no places in SD that sell Lacroix clothing. Well, I take that back, I could go to Saks and by some shoes... but I gotta eat so I don't want to have some slammin' shoes and eating air.

I did score this sweatshirt that I will rock-rock..haha.

Proenza Schouler for Lancome

Its available now on Lancome.com.. get it before you have to hit up eBay for it.

Beauté du Jour: Ai Tominaga

She's an "It girl" that I remember from tons of campaigns in 2004. She hails from Japan and is the full-package of what a couture model is- striking and tall.
I feel so happy to reminisce seeing her in Vogue and countless oversees fashion mags.
I wonder if she will venture into acting...

A moment in History

Jennifer Hudson will be on the cover of Vogue's March Power issue. here is a bit from imdb.com

"Jennifer Hudson will make history when she becomes the first African-American singer to appear on the cover of US fashion magazine Vogue. The Dreamgirls star will appear on the cover of the magazine's annual Power Issue next month. She follows in the footsteps of Oprah Winfrey and Halle Berry as only the third African-American celebrity to grace the cover of the fashion bible. "

Congrats Girl!

Yummy!

So when I ordered some stuff from Sephora.com, I put in the free code to get this new Mocktail lipgloss by Lorac. I was plesantly surprised! The color is Sex on the Beach (fuschia) but is really light and it smells delicious. Usually I can tell when a lip product begins to wear but it stayed for a few hours and moisturizes pretty good. The Sephora code is ADDICTED. Enjoy

What?!

With trends and one-off's come crimes...
This crime can not be ignored, I was on ebay yesterday and to my surprise ( not really) was the Proenza Schouler for Target Silk Palm Dress going for $225?!
The dress retails for no more than $50. I just don't understand? Maybe Target.com doesn't ship internationally.

BTW- does anyone know if this dress is coming to the SD stores?

Fall 07 look: Michael Kors

Classic, Winter Bronze!

This look epitomizes So-cal because you can sun in the winter and have the nice bronzy cheeks smack in the middle of say... February.
This look is fairly simple,I think that MAC's Bronze Reflection Hyperreal Foundation and their Bronzer in Golden Bronze or Refined Golden Bronze should do the trick.
Add some Mascara and a light hand of liner and you are good to go ( or as I like to put it gtg).

MAC for Paulina Rubio

I was kinda skeptical about this one.. I'm really unfamiliar with Paulina Rubio (I'll wikipedia soon though...) but I love this lipstick. On my lunch I strolled over to the MAC freestanding store and got Rubia, her exclusive for MAC.

I'm impressed, its a warm, pinky goldish nude that works for everyone. Who would have thought?

Beauté du Jour: Chrystèle Saint Louis Augustin

She inspired me to want to be a model! Though my dreams are now deferred, I still see Chrystèle and think.. " She's truly beautiful!".
A long while ago I used to watch Fashion TV on VH1 and when they featured collections and shows- I always saw her coming down the runway. I was so happy that she is truly unique, she's from the Carribean, sports an Afro and is French. In the mid 90's she was considered my top supermodel. I saw her in ad's for Neiman Marcus in Vogue back then and most recently she has been featured in a Sephora campaign.

Fall 07 look: Doo.Ri

I'm really loving this look. Futuristic- wearable BladeRunner style..complete with the feasible smokey-eye ( yeah..yeah, I still don't know how to do it).
I love how the smokey eye incorporates the blues(navy and marine)to complement the flesh lip. I hear that MAC is coming out with a lip product to get that flesh look. That should be exciting!
The hair- looks great for dinner and a movie. Very classic with a twist of curls.
What a nice look, no?

Fall 07 look: Nanette Lapore

So NY Fashion week has kicked off! There are a few looks I love coming up this season. One that really caught my eye was Nanette Lapore! I'm loving this new take on the cat-eye, The long lashes and liner can be achieved with Bourjois's Kohl& Contour Eye Pencil in Noir with Benefit's BadGal Lash for Mascara. , for the lightly flushed pink-plummy cheek I would recommend MAC's Britwit Blushcream and or MAC's Breath of Plum powder blush. For the plum/lavender lips- MAC's Screenqueen or Dior's Lychee Rose gloss. Very chic and sexy!

Classics: Love's Baby Soft

So another Classic I thought of ( didn't want to forget) was Love's Baby Soft. So many memories of this baby powder scented fragrance. On the weekends me, my mom and granny used to go to Plaza Bonita and I used to run to JC Penny's to get this stuff ( and their Rain fragrance that's just as good). I think you can now find this scent at your local drugstore. My drugstore of choice? LONGS! I can spend hours in there...

On another note: Rimmel London Cosmetics will launch Rimmel Underground this month in the US. Its supposed to have new Face, Lips and Eyes stuff targeted for us Gen Y'ers. Too bad there are no pics yet... the launch party was last year

It's Oh So Bright!

Its Groundhog day! and Phil tells us its going to be 6 more weeks of winter. So to gear up. i'm ready to get some brights! I think I'm going to stick to the lips now.
For brights I tend to favor lipgloss over lipstick because its more versatile. I like Lancome's Juicy Tube in Cherry Burst. Its a really nice Red that can be worn for fun without drawing unwanted attention. For the office, I like Christian Dior's Dior Kiss in Lychee Rose on top of Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Grapesicle lip gloss. I think the mix of the two looks really natural to wear everyday.
A good weekender is Victoria's Secret Very Sexy lipgloss in Makeout. Its a really nice bright party pink. Perfect for the superbowl weekend.

Beauté du Jour: John Galliano

He has a phenomenal couture collections- especially the Spring '07 show that was recently displayed. Parisian Vogue dedicated its Dec '06 issue to him and .. doesn't he look GORGEOUS in this pic?
