Warm it up

Its raining again is SD, and this cold schnap isn't making this January better. I was thinking about things that I look forward to on rainy days.. like silly movies they re-peat on TV or playing heads-up seven-up at school. I'm thinking about what would keep me warm since I get so cold easily. And it dawned on my- Philosophy has scrub that warms you up. I don't know how they do it, but it sounds cool. Exfoliate in warmth.. I want to melt.

Proenza Schouler for Target

Go International has brought the likes of Luella, Tara Jamon, Moschino, Fiorucci and Behnaz Sarafpour to Target , they now have a new designer to collabo with: Proenza Schouler! The collection debuts on Feb 4th and is looks wearable with a resort kick. I'm loving the blues, purples and yellows. I'm tired of wearing the winter darks, tired of the cold weather too. This is definately sunshine through the rain! And not to worry Frenchies- the Proenza collection will be at www.colette.fr ( or at the store in Paris) from Feb 19th- March 5th. And its "moin cher" with the pieces ranging from 10- 108 euro ( For the US the line runs $15- $130 and until May).
Also, Lancome has made an exclusive Proenza schouler Pink for Neimans. If its anything like the Behnaz Red ( which I hear is the perfect blood-orange), you might have to find it on ebay, they only made a limited amount...
Welcome Spring we missed you!

Classics: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

It's a cult classic! This pink and green has been around since the 70's and is #1 for everyone from Allure to Cosmo. The formula has bent a bit- now they have shades like clear ( for brows and lashes) and blackest black ( its pretty impressive), along with their waterproof and curved wand design.

Las Vegas!

Here's a lookbook to get you through the nights.. because you sleep during the day.
Nars Sin Blush and Benefit's Bad Gal Lash..now play nice

Beauté du Jour: Veronica Webb

She's one of the original Glamazon models of the '90's. She along with Cindy, Christy and Naomi stood tall, strong and commanded a presence that is still hard to recapture.Unfortunately with heightened exposure and fame lead to inflated egos and the death of the Glamazon's. To add injury, Evangelista opened her mouth and said that she " would not roll out of bed for less than $10,000 a day". Not once did I see Veronica over exposed or "egoed" out with the likes of Kate Moss and Naomi.
Back in 1992 she was the first African- American Model to score a cosmetics contract with Revlon and she walked for Mizrahi, Oldham and Rowley in their Pre-Target era. Please come back Veronica... we need you!

Coachella Line-up 2007

Its here! April 27th- 29th Coachella in Indio Cali. A little birdie told me that this might be its last year...
Who do I want to see? CORNELIUS, BJORK, BRAZILIAN GIRLS, THE ROOTS, THE ARCADE FIRE, AIR... well there are a total of about 18 acts I want to see. A 3- day pass is $250 so I figure with taxes and fees that equals out to a hearty $15.28 an act. yessss...

Madame Butterfly- Dior Couture 2007

Inspired by Madame Butterfly, John Galliano created a beautiful couture runway show. What inspires me? The Make-up! Pat McGrath at her best. I love the colors and the looks, unfortunately we can’t pull this off everyday.. so I’ll have to put this in my theme party folder for sure. You know what would really be cool? If Dior cosmetics had this much pigment in their products.. don’t get me wrong, I love Dior Show Unlimited Mascara but if their blushes and eyeshadows were as pigmented as ..say their lipsticks and glosses. I would be more excited about their face products.
This collection definitely wants me to listen to Weezer’s Pinkerton album

Lacroix's 'do

My new ‘do!

This is me today sitting at work in my cubi. I got my hair styled on Saturday by Anthony at the El Cortez. Its a New Year ( like 22 days ago), I need a foundation to start anew- I like the bangs.. I feel a bit Anna Wintourish or ( gasp) shall I say… Naomi Campbellish...haha.
Coincidence? Today was the Lacroix Couture show and low and behold… we have the same ‘do’s!

Classics: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Classic #2 goes to Queen Helene’s Mint Julep masque. I like to put this on before jumping in the shower and washing it off right after. I would recommend it for normal to oily skin because it takes all the oil and dirt out. It makes my skin so fresh and so clean! Plus: its under $4 , you can find it at any drugstore and a little bit goes a long way.

Movie Review: Pan's Labyrinth

This one has made it to my top 5 list respectively. I absolutely love it. Its no child's fairytale, its in fact dark, disturbing and brooding. The film is set in Spain during a war in 1944 where a young girl comes upon a fawn who makes her complete tasks so that she can either live a fantasy life or live in reality.
This should get the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Foreign Language film.

Beauté du Jour: Raquel Welsh

Raquel! first of all she is from the San Diego area ( albeit La Jolla ) and she has her own Icon collection with MAC following Diana Ross, Liza Minelli and Catherine Denueve. Plus she is a woman we can all look up to. I like the fact that MAC acknowledges women who would otherwise be shoved aside by pop culture starlets, to do something that puts their intellect and beauty on the spotlight again.

Classics: Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick

So I will attempt ( emphasis on attempt) to post on Monday's about the Beauty Classics. You may ask,"What do you mean by 'Classics'"? My definition is simple. A classic is something that is a staple, something with longevity and has the same impact on day one until.. whenever to make you look or feel good. Another element is nostalgia too.
My first classic goes wayyy back to when I was in Jr high school. my first official "lipstick" but its almost lipstick. The payoff is great and the contents lasts a long time.. so many memories are locked with Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Wonderful Clinique gift with purchase( where I could use all of it), hanging out with Danielle and Anna, having carne asada fries, being in broadcasting class watching MTV.. memories

Drugstore Dream

Normally I'm not partial to drugstore foundations- I find that they are chalky, wear like a mask and don't come in my skintone.
Luckly there is Maybelline has their Dream Matte Mousse foundation. It s a fit and it comes in plenty of shades. What's also cool is you can find it at any drugstore. So when you can't run to Nordies at 9:00pm you can definately run to Longs.

My beauty lightsaber: YSL Touche Eclat

Ok, so I am a bit of a nerd..no I'm a major nerd! and yet somehow I can relate it back to what I love most- makeup. I have to say- on nights I just can't sleep or want to catch up on old Saved By the Bell re-runs on at 4am. I can trust Yves Saint Laurent to make me appear rested. It not heavy like a concealor and it doesn't make me look ashy either...yay! I'm convinced it has magic in the little golden tube.

The Couture Report:Cuffs and Bangles

So maybe ( just maybe) you feel ( like me ) that Spring brings the same old light colors and a bit of floral mixed in. I'm not a floral person. But I did notice that on Chanel and Christian Lacroix runways that cuffs and bangles make cool accesories.. especially if you don't wear any at all.
I like the inscribed phrases on the Chanel ones and I love the black bangles on Christian Lacroix's, now where to find them....

Beauté du Jour: Sodaniel

"Sexy" is the phrase you will hear uttered from his mouth and his smile will greet you too. Sodaniel is fashionable, confident, oh yeah- and a friend of mine.
I love models, actresses..not so much (as models) but I want to feature a real tangible person as my beauty of the day.
Congrats Soda!

Barbie loves MAC ( and so do I)

First off- I'm so happy this collection isn't geared towards "tweens". Judging by the photo it looks like the appeal is of sophistication and class. I really can't wait! The collection comes out on Feb 15th. What am I to do? The Raquel Welsh collection comes out next week! I'm supposed to be cutting back on my MAC habit but its not working with all this new stuff coming out...
Maybe I'll just do a 6 month resolution. Wait, when is Lent again?

Too cute: Lorac Maui Wowie

I'm so ready for Spring- I see all these new palettes and kits along with bright colors and it makes me want to go to the beach and lay on my bamboo mat..ah.

I saw this new palette from Lorac on the Sephora site and it looks so cute! It give me some hope when things are... beachy.

Skin 101: Winter shine

No not highlighting or metalics. I mean your skin getting oily even though its winter. Even though winter is SD is 70 degrees- sometimes oily skin still doesn't let up. I like Kiehl's Blue Astringent to take care of "oilies". It last loner than any other toner or astringent I have used in the past. Plus a little goes a long way...

Lèvres de lacroix: Spring '07

We are loving the Red lips of the past few seasons.. but how do you pull it off for everyday wear? When you are not up to showstopping Nude-pink tones are back in for spring.
I'm loving Bobbi Brown's lipgloss in Honey and MAC Lipstick in Instinctive

Chanel Black Satin vs. Chanel Ceramic Noir

Miraculously I have both.
What's the diff? Black Satin is a solid graphite black that looks classy with a clear coat of Hard as Nails.
Ceramic Noir- is hints of baby blue sparkle.
How did I get my Ceramic Noir... call Nordies.

I lost!

How did I lose out on this!
Christian Lacroix shirt on Ebay! Too cute. *sigh*

Beauté du Jour: Chanel Iman

Chanel has put life back into the international runway! She's stunning, original and fashion forward. I can't wait to see her in the seasons to come. Great brows+ full lips = Gorgeous!

Goodbye The OC

Feb 22nd will be the series finale of The OC.
I never got around to watch the show- why? Because I saw Adam Brody’s hotness for 4 years.
No I don’t know him- we went to the same Jr high and High School.
Goodluck on your next venture, I’m sure the show will be in syndication.
