Carine Roitfeld's "Irreverent" book signing at Bookmarc

Irreverent at Bookmarc!

11/11/11. What a day to remember! After wrapping up the last of my midterms this week, I deserved an early b-day treat so upon hearing last month that Carine Roitfeld would be in NYC at Bookmarc signing copies of Irreverent, I went down to the West Village for the signing!
I arrived at 5:30pm and bought the book and as soon as I turned around, at 5:40pm she whisked into Bookmarc and immediately started chatting fans up and signing copies! Champagne flowed, passerbys gawked and I found myself in the surreal world of fantasy, meeting another one of my idols! I stood in line for a good half hour and was cut in line by non other than Peter Philips, Chanel Beauté's Creative Director! She said, "Oh, I'm so sorry, he is VIP." I said "I know, I can't believe this is happening, this is amazing!" So while he was getting his booked signed I took a picture of her boots. ( See below)
Boots to pine for!
Carine and Lacroix
Finally! I meet Carine who says..like every french person I have met." Your first name is Lacroix? That's interesting." I then tell her " Thank you for my early birthday gift", as I give her my book to sign, she asks, " When is your birthday?" I say " Its the 22nd" and she says, " Happy Birthday"!
Then I break out my favorite issue of Paris Vogue, the  Dec 2007/ Jan 2008 issue guest edited by Charlotte Gainsbourg , she smiled and signed it!
I go outside to meet Jessica of Styloteque and in walks Marc Jacobs!
Carine and Marc chat .
Marc stayed and chatted for about a half hour then left, but not before taking photos with some fans.
Marc loves the kids!

I promised Joan that I will read the new V mag with her on the cover once I was done with my accounting homework.
Joan Smalls and Natasha Poly stopped in to say hi to Carine and to get their books signed!
What an amazing night!
Natasha Poly is too tall for words- I'm like 5'10 and she's like 6'2.. and she has killer boots on!

Paris Vogue goes Bohemian for Nov 2010

November issues of magazines are my September Issues. Why? Becuase November is my B-day month! I've had this thing ever since I was a young beauty-ista mixing my cream Noxema with my mom's Maybelline Shades of You foundation, I went out and bought almost all us publications of fashion mags on my birth month.
Paris Vogue for the month of November channels a spring time bohemian vibe for fall with Natasha Poly's striking blue eyeshadow and voluminious pig-tails.
Can't wait to see the Beauty thats inside the issue. Speaking of issues, I need to post fave pics from Paris Vogue's October 90th anniversary issue.
Where has time gone?

Oh Schnap- Tracee loves Nars Schiap!

Photo: Vogue Paris August 2009

Tracee Ellis Ross loves Nars Schiap! as seen in Vogue Paris' August issue.
Not only that, she also loves MAC's Ruby Woo ( which reminds me that mine is misplaced somewhere).
I wonder if she combines these colors because I love the bold lip.
Fall lemming= bold lip.

Lara Stone for Paris Vogue Sept '09

Photo: Fashionologie.com

Ms. Stone has landed 2 Paris Vogue covers this year... seriously, who does that?!
Plus, she is so versatile that she is barely recognizable- now this is what I call true modeling!

If there is one thing I splurge on 3-4 times a year ( yeah, I know- I seriously need to get a subscription) it would be Paris Vogue. It never lets me down in fact the last Vogue I bought was the one with Michelle Obama on the cover- just because she was on it, unfortunately everything else about the photoshoots and editorials has let me down- yes, ALT has let me down, and lead me to the path of Emmanuelle Alt, Melanie Huynh and Carine Roitfeld of Paris Vogue and its made editorials and photos more appealing to me than any other Vogue out there ( sorry Vogue Italia, you are 2nd on my list followed by Vogue Korea).

The Five of '09

These are just a few things I look forward to in '09

5. More blogging by Sessilee Lopez! Leave a comment..because she will answer it!

4. Being fiscally fit! Eliminating the unneccessary and budgeting. I definitely need to cut my company cafeteria expenses down..at $10 a day for lunch...thats too too much.
Mint.com has been ever so helpful in allocating my expenses.. and MS Excel does just fine too.

3. 80's comebacks!
I don't mean video games and power shoulders, I mean the Supers!
Cindy in Paris Vogue's November issue, Claudia in D&G Resort and YSL Spring ads, Grace Jones' new album.
Also the return of sculpted contouring in make up ala Way Bandy and Kevin Aucoin.
Power Red pouts and volume in the crown.

2. Greening it up.
It's going to take time but the first step is B.Y.O.B- bring your own bag ( or cup).
Recently I have been putting my Yankee Swap/ White Elephant gift to use by bringing it with me everywhere. Wrapsacks.com has great collapsable bags that zip- transformer in the purse!
If you bring your own bag to Trader Joes, you are entered in a drawing for a gift card off your groceries!
Some Starbucks rewards by giving you some change off for bringing your own cup.

1. The Obama's
Anyone else excited?
Plus, Thakoon ( Michelle O sported his stuff recently) has a new line in target now! Get to the store while you can as the cute skirts and dresses are sold out online.

Paris Vogue June/July' 08

Beauté du Jour Noemie Lenoir is featured on the cover of Paris Vogue's June/July Gallic issue. Also featured, one of my faves from the 90's, Laetitia Casta.
I can't wait for the editorials and articles highlighting France..don't you think it will be reminicent of American Vogue?
This will be my lemming along with the Italian Vogues summer issue.
Fun fact: they have both been in Asterix and Obelix films.
