MAC Cult of Cherry

Tonight I had the privilege of attending MAC Soho's Cult of Cherry unveiling.
It was a great event and the collection is unbelievable! Yes, I tend to get excited about MAC collections but this one has topped it for me this year!
The store was chock-ful ( just like the mattene) of choco-tini and cherry tarts handed out by handsome male waiters. The artists were all adorned with cute half-aprons and helped everyone with achieving different looks to pull of a new face for the fall season.

I would describe Cult of Cherry as sophisticated, sensual and powerful! The collection is the perfect blend of cherries, chocolate with accents of pink and taupe. Its like a pure choco-cherry factory of goodness.

I picked up a few products that I will be using pronto.

Creme Cerise lipstick is a warm neutral taupe, its cooler than Touch and taupier than Instinctive. It will be in my bag for the everyday neutral.

Bing Mattene is a deep eggplant color that wears great, matte but not drying at all. Since I can't pull off the all black YSL lip, this will be my substitute. Though I didn't purchase tonight, my next one will be Chock-ful, a rich chocolate color that reminds me of the mid-90's when I was trying to do the dark brown burgundy.

Blooming blush is a dusty rose and the finish is a frost. This would look great with Chock-ful as the lippie and neutral eyes.

Plum du Bois blush is a plummy brown with shimmer, the finish is frost as well and is great for every day. A close one to this is Mountain High.

Cult of Cherry will be in stores on the 19th.

Alexander McQueen and Target?

From WWD.COM

MCQUEEN ON TARGET’S RADAR?: It looks like Alexander McQueen could be the latest designer name — and one of the most prestigious — to link up with Target’s Go International program, which showcases capsule collections by guest designers. According to industry sources, the British designer is in talks to work on a collection for the Minneapolis-based retailer. A spokeswoman for McQueen declined comment Wednesday.

If the designer does ink a deal with Target, he would join an ever-growing lineup of marquee names who have produced collections for the brand, including Luella Bartley, Alice Temperley, Proenza Schouler and Richard Chai. In addition, Anya Hindmarch and Sigerson Morrison both have collections in the pipeline for the retailer.

While McQueen launched a denim-based diffusion line, called McQ Alexander McQueen, in fall 2006, he’s not yet notched up a collaboration with a mass retailer during his career. As well as his ready-to-wear collection, McQueen designs a footwear collection for Puma and a capsule luggage collection for Samsonite’s Black Label.

Since I'm in recession mode, all my loose change will be devoted to the Coinstar just for this collection..which I will be starting in T-6 minutes.
Additionally, my future MAC purchases with the exception of Manish and Ungaro will be on hold. So yes, that means- No Comme des Garcon for H&M either. McQueen comes first.

Noir lèvres for Fall

Would you wear black lipstick or lipgloss?

I didn't really give it much thought after seeing the Fall/Winter '08 fashion shows earlier this year but it didn't dawn on me that YSL's black lips would transend to dare I say..mainstream?

Well, last year we had the black nail polish craze and could this be this the year of le noire lèvres?

In Sept, Lancome will introduce Color Fever Gloss Piha Black, a sleek black lipgloss - a first for the company ( along with Color Piha Beach ) at Bon Marché in Paris.
The darkest MAC Lipglass was the now discontinued Deceit and Christian Dior got in on the action with a black Diorific gloss shade ( also discontinued for some years now).

Anxious to try something new and avoiding looking like Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean. I tried this look out with my MAC Smolder eyeliner... and looked just like her.

But Grace Jones pulled it off in the 80's? why can't I?

We'll see, only fall can tell.
